The 1882 connection is interesting, but I’d like to see more support for the claim that the public charge standard stopped being applied for decades. The standard has had different guidance and rules over time. I’d also be interested in evidence for the article’s claims about effects on welfare rolls and public services.

Immigrants took over the immigration system and romanticized their own ancestors into a lax policy. We became addicted to foreigners because they were easier to employ during Jim Crow. What we call white people began to consolidate their growing power, while blacks languished behind. It's still happening. Old habits die hard

With all the lawyers that Trump has working for the White House, why did they just notice this law now? It's baffling.

Now that you have read this; you must repost. Regardless of any political belief. A true democracy demands it. The "Rule of Law" gives you to choices: FOLLOW IT or CHANGE IT.

Amen and YES should have always been enforcing this law! It’s blatantly obvious the previous administrations were complicit in the out right invasion of our country with indigent welfare babies all while costing the hardworking tax payer of more and more of their income every year to fear the beast. Naw, that wouldn’t put undue stress on your Avg. Joe American? 🤦🏼‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤬
