You can't excuse the parent's compliance and/ or ignorance. In the case of compliance there's a degree of narcissistic joy that's experienced as bring the long suffering and virtuous parent of the suffering child. This is called Munchausen's by proxy. It is a mental disease and it is child abuse. ( Some people may remember the case of Gypsy Rose and her mother).
Failure to assess the root cause of why your child"believes" they are the opposite sex if failure on the parents part. There is no way to explain the virtual explosion of gender dysphoria that is EXACTLY the opposite of what trends in the past would predict except social contagion exacerbated by social media. This is similar to the anorexia "outbreak" we saw in the 70's that increased when famous people like gymnasts and musicians were covered in television. Soon high school girls everywhere were binging and purging to lose weight. Very few were truly body dysphoric. Had the Internet been around to magnify the contagion we'd have thousands of girls on feeding tubes and languishing on Facebook for their thumbs up. Instead, it just went away and dwindled back down to the very rare condition of mental illness and control/ lack of control that it actually is. Trying telling a parent of a true anorexia patient they should encourage their child to starve themselves to be supportive of their child's belief they are too fat. Or to help your child who cuts themselves by getting them better razors so they can feel something.
You don't treat mental and emotional problems with surgery. That shouldn't even have to be said. Talk to your child. Get to the root of why they believe they were"born wrong".
If you still believe they should transition, educate yourself by listening to people who did this as children( whose bodies will continue to grow) and learn about the complications, pain and suffering they've experienced and why they did it and did it help their mental state.
Subjecting your child to the pain they will go though and the inevitable permanent patient they will become can and should be horrifying. If the pre frontal vortex is not fully developed until around age 26, then how can you justify allowing a child to make these decisions?
This is mengele level experimentation and should be outlawed and the perpetrators brought to justice.
Watching people’s actions have taught me that many are utterly brainwashed and/or ignorant. As I watch the world around me it’s quite horrifying that anyone would allow their young children to transition. That’s a decision to be made only when these kids are adults and are able to understand the magnitude of those decisions. I believe it’s child abuse!
That atrocious mother making her son think he can be a girl. The doctor(s) and parents of these young children being given hormone blockers at such a young age is child abuse. Put all of them in prison.
STILL can’t get my head around the fact that the USA has sunk so low that Mengele mutilation surgery and practices was not only endorsed and encouraged by the medical, educational, social worker and LBGTQ agenda communities but it was also FUNDED by tax dollars. They even went so far as to offer genital removal FOR FREE for illegal immigrants. Also pretty sure such nonsense was a benefit in the military.

In WWII we liberated the death camps and set the likes of Mengele and Iishi running for their medical crimes and we saw ourselves as heroes for doing it. NOW IT IS CALLED “Affirming” and state provides funding and encouragement to do it. (at least they did, perhaps things will change with Trump but the sickness is deeply institutional so surely there are lunatics fighting for the right to saw kids genitals off)
